Low-dose reconstruction
Restoring noisy low-dose slices while keeping fine structures intact.
The question
Lowering the radiation dose makes images noisy, and small vessels and organ boundaries get buried in the noise. Our goal is restoration that removes noise without removing structure. Alongside it we build metrics that measure whether structures survive, not just whether the image looks pleasant.
Methods, data and evaluation
| Target | Reduced-dose abdominal CT (simulated) |
|---|---|
| Data | Phantom slices produced with our low-dose simulator |
| Methods | Image- and projection-domain restoration, noise-level conditioning |
| Evaluation | Boundary and small-vessel preservation, change in segmentation output |
| Released | Low-dose CT simulator |
