Recording the circuits of memory, sleep and movement
seoyun.han@neurolab.example
“I wanted to see what the brain does in sleep as clearly as what it does by day.”
NEURO Lab studies the circuits behind memory, sleep and movement. We record dozens of neurons at once and follow how their signals change over a single night.
With the same recording tools we read motor cortex for brain–machine interfaces, so that people who cannot move can control a cursor or a robotic arm. Basic science and technology share one bench here.
If you love the brain and are careful with data, your major does not matter — biology, EE, CS and psychology all work side by side.
How we work
- 1
Record
Several regions at once, for weeks at a time — memory only shows when sleep and wake are seen together.
- 2
Analyse
From single spikes to population trajectories, we read the same data at several scales.
- 3
Share
When a paper is out, raw data and code go public too — others should be able to redo it.
Milestones
- 2020Lab founded; hippocampal recording rig installed
- 2022Sleep-recording room opened; sleep topic begins
- 2024First closed-loop BCI experiments
- 2026Joint recording across all three topics
